What happens when the people you love

slip into a different feed?

This new solo show blends humor, personal storytelling, and cultural criticism into a story about how misinformation and political division reshape our relationships with the people closest to us.

The piece moves between two interconnected narratives: my mother, a liberal retired English teacher living in Trump country, whose online political outrage escalates, straining our family as a hereditary eye disease narrows her physical vision; and my classroom, where students became convinced by a viral internet meme that Helen Keller was a fraud.

As I try to correct this misinformation, the familiar schoolbook version of Helen Keller begins to unravel, revealing a more complex and unsettling historical figure than I ever imagined.

Funny, irreverent, and unexpectedly moving, Helen Keller Wasn't Real confronts what happens when the people you love, the history you were taught, and the facts you take for granted all come into question.
